Government of India introduces .भारत // .bharat domain name which is currently in Sunrise Period and general availability will start from November 18 2014. Sunrise period is the priority registration period where the domain name will be offered to Trade Mark Holders or .In domain name holders and once this period is over .भारत /.कंपनी.भारत domain will be available to general public openly. There are about 600,000 private .IN domain names, besides 1,000 government domain names and after the dot Bharat domain name, six additional regional URLs will also be launched in Bengali, Telegu, Tamil, Gujrati, Punjabi and Urdu. India is expected to surpass the US in Internet Users by the end of the year with an estimated 5 million users added every month. Source
This latest introduction will certainly boost more & more users with the government planning to connect 60,000 villages with broadband this year with another 2 lakh villages planned in the next two years through National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN). Source
The launch of dot Bharat domain name surely makes September an eventful month for Indian as Mangalyaan, India’s maiden Mars Orbiter Mission is scheduled for Mars Orbital Insertion on September 24 to become only the fourth nation in the world to do so.
